Housework

Au pairs perform light housekeeping duties usually related to children under their care. Heavy housework, such as; vacuuming the whole house, doing parent's laundry, washing the windows/floors, or ironing should not be expected of an aupair. Most families hire a cleaning service for these jobs. Au pairs primary responsibility is the wellbeing of the children they look after.

Light housekeeping duties, such as; doing children's laundry, preparing children's meal, running/emptying the dishwasher, vacuuming children's areas, changing children's sheets are acceptable housework duties.
