How do I create the best host family profile?

Creating a great family profile is very important in finding your perfect match. You must pay special attention to your profile as it is the first impression of you to the au pairs. Remember, you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Express the responsibilities and your expectations clearly. Explain to the prospective au pairs why you want to host an au pair and what you expect from an au pair. Explain to them what a day is like in your home. Do you require any housework? If so, what are they? What are the work hours of the au pair? Au pairs would want to know if they have enough free time to explore your country and culture outside of your home as well. Answer these questions to introduce your family to the au pairs.

Upload your picture. Picture is worth thousand words! Au pairs want to see your family. Upload a clear picture of your family when you register. Remember, it is better to upload your picture early on. Some au pairs may not pay attention to a perfectly good family profile if they don't see a picture.

Explain the au pairs the advantages of joining your family. Tell them why they should pick your family. Describe them your home and the area you live in. Tell them about the attractions in your town or nearby cities. Do you have other au pairs in your neighborhood? Au pairs love to have friends at their own age. Meeting au pairs from other countries would further enrich their experience.

Explain what you provide for the au pair. Tell them about the accomodations. Do you provide the au pair a private room? This is a requirement for most countries. Do you provide the au pair her/his own bathroom? Most au pairs would want to go to a language school. Is there a language school that she can easily access?
